Our Heritage home Casa Alcina 1810 is located amongst sylvan and tranquil surroundings of an exquisite calm & serene typical Goan village of Saligao. Built in 1810, it has an exquisite look thus retaining the originality of those houses during the Portuguese day’s .When you sit in the balcony you can see the green lush surrounding and the chirping of birds, humming of insects and the wild colours of butterflies.
The house by itself has been tastefully redone reflecting not just personal taste but reflecting widely travel experience and family requirements.
Casa Alcina 1810, is a purest one of the few environmentally friendly and climatically adapted house where one can enjoy the bliss of sunshine and the serenity of cool breeze as it is located amidst the coconut palms. Due to the openness of the place and high ceilings, it retains the originality of old houses.
The house consist of a living room commonly called as Sala or the main reception room and is filled with intricately carved furniture by Goan craftsmen. The display cabinets are collection of old historic porcelain vases and figurines.
The dining hall known as Sala de Jantar boasts of a long table which can sit up to a dozen people with impressive chandeliers subdued lighting.
The kitchen or cuzinha comes fully fitted with modern gadgets and all tools for effective cooking.
The house by itself stands out for its unique plan of old Portuguese architecture complied with modern day renovation. The house consists of the Master bedroom and two other bedrooms all fitted with old colonial four poster beds and furnishings of the highest standards. All bedrooms are fitted with antique pedestal lamps which retain and fulfils romanticism and colour.
Casa Alcina 1810 was originally abode of the Fernandes family for generations and this is the 4th generation that has painstakingly maintained, restored and exhibiting it more out of passion and love – hence a request that whoever lives in the place must take utmost care of this home for love and posterity so that future generations live enjoy and perpetuate this old world charm in the beautiful village of Saligao.
